The Hermitage Villas exemplify the style and scale of old Nevisian homes, like The Hermitage Greathouse (circa 1640), itself one of the oldest surviving houses in all of the Caribbean islands.

Each villa will comprise a central Great room, adjoining bedrooms, and peaked and gabled roofs, with verandahs and tropical landscaping on its own dry-stone terrace, overlooking a sun terrace and swimming pool. Each villa will be designed and built to suit it owner, in the same style and spirit as the Hermitage, celebrating the best of our island’s traditional woodworking, like mortise and tenon joinery, cedar shingles, jalousie windows and gingerbread trim.

A few special sites have been cleared from the slopes above the Inn. With elevations rising from 800 to1,000 feet above sea level, the views even exceed those of the Inn. The ambience is languid and tranquil, overlooking the Caribbean Sea to the South with its constantly changing colors ranging from light blue to deepest cobalt.

The microclimate of the historic Gingerland district rarely moves below 75 degrees or above 85 degrees Fahrenheit, year round, day or night. “The air is like champagne – it should be bottled,” said a recent guest from Key West, Florida. The light – particularly at dawn and before sunset – transforms the lush surrounding countryside slopes with reflections of brilliant golden hues.
